Harry's Bar

Harry's Bar in Venice is a legendary bar and restaurant that has been operating since 1931. It was founded by Giuseppe Cipriani, who named it after his American friend Harry Pickering. The bar is located in the San Marco district of Venice, just a few steps away from Piazza San Marco.

Harry's Bar is famous for its Bellini cocktail, a drink made with peach puree and sparkling wine that was invented at the bar in the 1940s. Other popular dishes include carpaccio, a thinly sliced raw beef or fish dish that was also invented at the bar, and risotto alla primavera, a creamy rice dish with vegetables.

Over the years, Harry's Bar has been visited by numerous famous people, including Ernest Hemingway, Charlie Chaplin, and Orson Welles. It has also been featured in various movies and books, cementing its status as an iconic cultural landmark in Venice.

Today, Harry's Bar is still owned by the Cipriani family and remains a popular destination for locals and tourists alike. In 2001, Harry's Bar was declared a national landmark by the Italian Ministry for Cultural Affairs. The bar's interior, which features wood-paneled walls, brass fittings, and elegant furnishings, has been preserved to maintain its historic ambiance.
