Departure after a hearty breakfast in the direction of the San Marco sestiere, the most important from a tourist point of view which belongs to the Venice itinerary. The heart of the sestiere is undoubtedly St Mark's Square with its Basilica, the Campanile and the Doge's residence. These three attractions can take at least a week to visit, as they have so much to offer. Certainly a good half day is enough to fully enjoy the heart of Venice, St Mark's Square, shrouded by the Procuratie.
Once you have finished visiting St Mark's Square, enjoy a coffee at the Quadro or Florian cafés. After resting, head to the Giardini Reali for a stroll through the green heart of the sestiere. But first take a souvenir photo with St Mark's Column and the lagoon as a backdrop. From there, with the help of our map, head first to the Church of San Moise, a Venetian Baroque jewel. Then cross the Bridge of Columns to Palazzo Contarini Bovolo to admire the external spiral staircase. Find a place to have lunch by selecting the restaurants icon on our map, within a few metres you will find many options. Once you have finished your lunch, head back towards Piazza San Marco. Head to the Torre dell'Orologio, a Renaissance clock tower with an E-flat bell built in 1499. Walk to the Ponte di Paglia, where you can admire and photograph the iconic Bridge of Sighs.
At the end of the tour we recommend an aperitif at Terrazza Danieli or Harry's Bar. But don't limit yourself to these choices, Venice has a lot to offer. Once you have enjoyed your aperitif, take the vaporetto and enjoy a pleasant evening cruise on the Gran Canale. For just a few euros you can take the vaporetto and enjoy the views of the Grand Canal at night. From San Marco Zaccaria B, F or E take line 2 (red line) and get off at Rialto with the help of our Venice map. At the end of the trip we recommend a final photo of the illuminated Rialto Bridge. From there, return to your hotel.
